The Halo Foundation is a student-based organization of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, formally registered on the 25th of July, 2012.

The purposes of the Foundation are to provide an opportunity for students of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development; and initiate and engage in health and social projects that will improve the health standards of the aforementioned communities, with bias for adolescent, maternal and child health.

We have held the Hepatitis Screening for students and staff of the College of Medicine for two consecutive years – 2013 and 2014.
But that is not all The Halo Foundation has done. Since we were formally created in 2012, we have carried out various activities for our immediate environment and others.

In 2014, we successfully carried out our project called Halo Cares which involved a visit to two orphanages in Lagos – Hearts of Gold and Modupe Cole; and we had an event titled the Pediatric Playday for persons in the Pediatric ward in the Lagos University Teaching Hospitals, it was aimed at bringing fun to the children at the Pediatric ward.

We have also worked with the Down Syndrome Foundation Nigeria and successfully carried out two medical outreach for persons with Down Syndrome in 2013 and 2014 and was a part of their Down Syndrome Week in March 2015.

Celebrating World Malaria Day in 2014, we had a story series on the blog titled Munachi which was both entertaining and educative.

So why are you reading this today and now?
