Day 6: Funmilayo

Once again I am grateful for the opportunity to reflect on the year I have had thus far. Thanks a lot Pero.

It’s barely 26 days left, and truth be told the number one feeling I have is relief. Finally. 2017 is over. Well almost. My year was filled with mixed feelings. For one, I was forced to grow up. sniff sniff One minute you’re 18 and a student and the next minute you’re 24 and waking up by 5.30am getting ready for Monday morning traffic. Like yo! I wasn’t readyyyyyyy! Kevin Hart’s voice

The second feeling and dominant one I have though, is gratitude. With the growing up I had to do, especially in the second half of the year, I came into the realization of God’s love for me ( and trust me when I say I’m a really really really somehow human being). A love that I did nothing to deserve, a love nothing can change, a love so deep and immense and overwhelming that sometimes it’s scary and I can only be grateful because I cannot ever repay or pay him back in exact measure.

2017 had me at my highest highs and my lowest lows but I was lucky enough to have people I could share these moments with and for this I am grateful.

I am grateful for friends who reminded me to laugh through the tears and always sent me funny tweets in the DMs.

I am grateful for love that made me feel like I was the sun and am amazing fufu princess.

I am grateful for medicine that gave my days a meaning as well as my midnight blood chases.

I am grateful for family and the warmth that always came with entering the doors of my house and most especially the free food which I’ve come to realize is underrated.

I cannot entirely say I am grateful for Lagos traffic but it has been teaching me a lesson or two about patience and my sanity and my ‘inner tout’.

One thing I was able to do in 2017 and I am thank for is my ‘Table’ which is essentially a tribe of people I can be vulnerable with about my imperfections. Shoutout to you guys. You have my heart.

2018: I am hopeful, excited, ready to live my best life, in my best body, travel and basically flourish.
Can I get an Amen?!
