Day 11: Lolade

2017 has been a really good year. God has been faithful to me and my family, with so many things to be thankful for. Before the year started, I knew it would be amazing, and truly it has been. There were so many experiences and life lessons that I won’t trade for anything in the world. A lot of times, we tend to look at undesirable experiences as sour experiences. In the moment, they aren’t fun, but when you look at them from an angle of building character and wanting to learn you would be amazed at the growth you will experience.

It has been a year in which my faith was stretched, well stretched, but God was faithful to show forth His love and peace. I learnt that living a life without expectations is the pathway to living a boring, normal and unfulfilling life. There’s just this balance and excitement you have when you are looking forward to something: just like a child who has been waiting eagerly for Christmas, because he or she knows they’ll get a gift. On the flip side, there’s also the strengthening of character that accompanies not getting what you believed or hoped for in the way you hoped it would come.

This year was also a year of firsts for me: I had a baby, started a business, had general surgery, felt like Job and so many more other things.

Beyond the exciting, memorable, and great milestones I had in 2017, I am especially grateful for the “bad” and “ugly” experiences. Without them I would not have been able to know my strengths. I’m so much stronger, and more confident in what God has placed in me, just because I had these so-called ugly experiences. I won’t trade them for anything.

In all, I’ll just say that we should always look at the bright side of things. Truth is, we must learn to rejoice in and through all of the victories and tests, the successes and lessons that we encounter on this journey called life.

I am confident that 2018 will be greater for us all.
Cheers.
