First of all I appreciate the opportunity to share my year 2017 via this platform, as it gives a clear insight into achievements and shortcomings and a retrospective analysis thus giving room for improvement and changes where necessary.
2017 started on a high note with a lot of hopes and aspirations, plans for great things but like they say, life can be a pot of beans. I achieved some of the things I thought I would and some I only still hope to achieve.
The crossover night came and I felt “okay time to improve in this new year”, I made some resolutions which of course did not survive past the first few weeks lol, weeks went by and the day was approaching, I mean my birthday and I remember always feeling nervous and wondering why time can’t just stop and why I need to keep getting older, but the day still came haha, and I’m glad I got older and wiser even though I am not yet where I want to be but I am gradually getting closer to the goal day by day.
Aha, this was one of the most problematic years I had with my vehicle(aka my baby), kept giving me a reason to spend money on it, and even though I had an accident in it while heading for a medical outreach, I really want to thank God for keeping me alive and making me walk out without a scratch, it’s only by his mercies.
A lot of things happened, my last kid sis had her graduation ceremony, I went for a couple of shows I previously wasn’t inclined to, but found out I actually enjoy spoken word events, also went for motivational talk shows learnt a whole lot, however, unlike last year where I ticked an item off my bucket list(playing with Lions in south Africa), this year I haven’t really ticked anything off my bucket list but next year I’m going skydiving for sure or scuba diving, watch out.
I learnt a lot this year, and one of the most important things I learnt recently is that if you want to get something done, speak to the people in-charge, not the clerks, not the receptionists as they would give you their own views and can be quite discouraging at times most times they can’t influence the outcome as such. However, they are also immensely important in the overall outcome.
To cap it all, we had an amazing family reunion this December, you see my family is a relatively big one, this includes my cousins, aunties, uncles and their spouses and even their children, its always an amazing experience when we all gather together to have a reunion which we did this year at grandpas house, cousins literarily flew in from around the world to attend the get together, I could see the spark in grandpas eyes as he had his whole family, kids, grandkids and even great grandkids gather round him singing carols and sharing food and having fun, I learnt a valuable lesson, that after all is said and done, family is the only one that has got you even in old age, never separate yourself from family.
I am on the brink of starting a new phase in my life and it’s come with a whole lot of emotions because I don’t know what to expect but I know God’s got me, as I look forward to starting this phase I hope and pray its one filled with adventure and achievements.
I like to appreciate my family for constant support, my dad, my mum in particular for love and care and going the extra mile, also my lovely sisters as well. I also appreciate the shugs immensely for being a great part of my 2017 and making me a better person, hoping for a more blissful 2018.
I hope to see a better me in 2018, have a deeper relationship with God and also hope to achieve greater things this coming year. I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year in advance.
Cheers!
