The Woman God Uses: Esther.

Hello fam. I was invited to share on a groupchat and thought to share my outline with you also. Enjoy.

Hello everyone, how was your day?

My name is Adepero Ajayi and I want to say thank you for the privilege to share tonight.

Before we start, let’s pray…

Dear Lord, we thank you for another opportunity to study at your feet, to learn and encourage one another tonight. We ask that everyone will be transformed into becoming a woman after your heart, that you’ll groom us to be women of prayer who chase after you. Speak through me Lord. Amen

Hmm… The woman God uses.

I love this phrase because God has been teaching me a lot around this topic, so I was excited to share when I was invited.

Let’s dive right in!

If I took a poll of how many of us want to be used of God, everyone will raise their hands. However, by the time God starts us on the journey 95% will run away. Why? The product is usually beautiful and desirous but the process is painful and sometimes lonely.

Using the story of Esther, let’s see her profile.

⁃ She was an orphan. She would sometimes miss her parents. Growing up was most likely unpleasant.

I don’t know who this is for but your background doesn’t determine your foreground. Stop letting your past hold you down from experiencing the beautiful future God has for you. The tougher and more “ugly” your beginning or past is, the more beautiful your story will be.

⁃ She was adopted by Mordecai, her cousin. She had a good relationship with Mordecai. He groomed her to be a good lady and taught her vital lessons that would be instrumental to her destiny.

Who are those people God has blessed you with on your life’s journey to groom  and nurture you. God didn’t create anyone to stand alone. “It is not good for man to be alone!” This is not only about marriage.

⁃ She was TAKEN to the king’s harem. This was against her will but it was the King’s command.

⁃ “Let the king appoint administrators in all the provinces of his kingdom, and have them gather all the beautiful young virgins to the citadel in Susa, into the harem, under the custody of Hegai, the king’s eunuch, who is in charge of the women; and let their beauty preparations be given to them.”

⁃ ESTHER 2:3 AMP

So here is Esther who was already used to living with her cousin and perhaps her only relative alive, suddenly she had to leave the familiar for the unpredictable. It is important to note that whoever wasn’t selected by the king will become a concubine, technically she’d be stuck in the palace.

“Now the young woman pleased Hegai and found favor with him. So he quickly provided her with beauty preparations and her [portion of] food, and he gave her seven choice maids from the king’s palace; then he transferred her and her maids to the best place in the harem. Esther did not reveal [the Jewish background of] her people or her family, for Mordecai had instructed her not to do so.”

ESTHER 2:9-10 AMP

Ladies can you appreciate this upgrade that happened to Esther!!!

It is important to note that the qualities she had gathered from Mordecai’s training were what stood her out among the other ladies.

Woman of God, go through process! Choosing the easy route is like aborting God’s plan for one’s life because when you get to the top, it is the qualities that God taught you in the wilderness that would keep you. God doesn’t take us through difficult times just because He wants to see us suffer. He does it to build character in us, which would make us stand out in the palace.

⁃ Esther had a teachable heart. She sought counsel when it was her turn to go to the king. She didn’t choose for herself based on her experience or knowledge. This was a wise move because, Hegai, the eunuch in charge of the harem knew what would make the King smile and fall in love. There was something the King was looking for and it wasn’t virginity!!!

Wherever we find ourselves, let us have a close relationship with the Holyspirit such that He influences our every decision.

“Esther had not yet shewed her kindred nor her people; as Mordecai had charged her: for Esther did the commandment of Mordecai, like as when she was brought up with him.”

Esther 2:20 KJV

Even after she became queen, Esther still honored her cousin. She didn’t think she has arrived. She still kept her nationality secret. She didn’t get drunk one day and mistakenly spill the secret.

Let’s also note that the King wasn’t a Christian!!! Hence, she was in the palace as an ambassador of Christ. Everything about her life had to reflect values of Christ.

“On this day, with Mordecai sitting at the King’s Gate, Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s eunuchs who guarded the entrance, had it in for the king and were making plans to kill King Xerxes. But Mordecai learned of the plot and told Queen Esther, who then told King Xerxes, giving credit to Mordecai. When the thing was investigated and confirmed as true, the two men were hanged on a gallows. This was all written down in a logbook kept for the king’s use.”

Esther 2:21-23 MSG

She didn’t take credit for what someone else did.

Haman, a man who hadn’t gone through process but got to the top started to feel very important and required the praises of man. He didn’t realize God promotes us for His purpose and glory. We are the clay and He is the potter. Sadly, He was toiling with the wrong crew, the Jews!

So 5years into Esther’s reign, Haman plots to wipe out not only Mordecai but the Jews.

You can mess with anyone but not God’s children, He guides them jealously. The Jews fasted, wept, and wailed, and many people lay in burlap and ashes.

When anyone wants to frustrate you, don’t waste time talking with them, report them to God!

Mordecai told Esther to go to the king and beg for mercy and plead for her people.

Esther started giving excuses. Guess she was already feeling comfortable in her new position.

“When Hathach told Mordecai what Esther had said, Mordecai sent her this message: “Don’t think that just because you live in the king’s house you’re the one Jew who will get out of this alive. If you persist in staying silent at a time like this, help and deliverance will arrive for the Jews from someplace else; but you and your family will be wiped out. Who knows? Maybe you were made queen for just such a time as this.””

Esther 4:12-14 MSG

Isn’t it interesting how God shakes things up in our lives as soon as we get used to a new situation or location. Life is a journey not a destination.

“Esther sent back her answer to Mordecai: “Go and get all the Jews living in Susa together. Fast for me. Don’t eat or drink for three days, either day or night. I and my maids will fast with you. If you will do this, I’ll go to the king, even though it’s forbidden. If I die, I die.””

Esther 4:15-16 MSG

I love this woman because she knew how to ask for help. Fast for me!!!

Her spirit was willing but flesh was weak. Fasting helps to align spirit, soul & body.

A woman God use is one who has a lifestyle of prayer.

I’ll camp here for a bit.

Prayer is not done in a rush every other day. NO!!!

It has to be daily. Just like you charge your phone daily to stay connected to the world, you need to pray daily to stay connected to the Word.

If you pray daily, when you get to crossroads of critical decision making, you wouldn’t be confused. You already know how God communicates with you.

Prayer is not for when you need something. God wants relationship. He wants to be your gistmate. He wants to know what’s on your mind, tell him before you tell Facebook. He wants to help you navigate life. He wants to give you wisdom, knowledge and understanding if only you’ll abide in Him so He can abide in you.

Prayer is like having intercourse with the Father, you leave becoming more like Him, speaking like Him, seeing like Him, knowing like Him.

There is so much God wants to give if only we humble ourselves and pray. Don’t start and stop. Keep the altar burning continually. Everything we seek in this world is available in prayer. What others are chasing will begin to chase you!

How can you be used by God if you don’t talk to Him? How will He tell you His heart? How will He direct your path? How will you hear from Him?

The key is Prayer, Surrender to God’s plan for your life and Obedience when He speaks. If you wouldn’t obey, why should He speak.

Fam, in this season God is seeking people who’d just surrender and spend time with Him so He can bless them. The devil knows this so he makes you believe these lies: No time, postpone it, after Facebook, IG or Twitter. After this one movie I’ll pray. When I’m about to sleep, then you sleep off without praying.

If your prayer life is dead, ask God for an encounter you that will change your walk with Him.

In the story of Esther, we see how after the fast & prayer, before she made her request the king answered!

The king couldn’t sleep at night because He had to promote Mordecai.

Most importantly, Esther and her people took that city for God! They all became Jews!

Thank you.
