Day 22: Pearl

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,

And into His courts with praise.

Be thankful to Him and bless His name.

Psalms 100: NKJV

I have had quite an interesting couple of days or rather weeks… scratch that… I have had a wonderfully interesting and beautiful 2019.

I have some tough times this year;
I was ill most of the year, so I was in and out of hospital. I wrote about 3 exams and had an interview. My son fell ill some weeks ago and had to be admitted – malaria and infection. I don’t think anything else afflicts children like infection! Sigh! Then there’s the fact that I live in this our Lagos with all its wahala. Only God knows why I still love the place. And of course, there is also the Nigerian factor.

It’s a web of mixed feelings but I can’t complain because I have so many reasons to be grateful! I have so much to thank God for, which is why I am writing.

I had a baby. I have passed two of those exams and I am wating on the result for the third. These were exams that I was so not ready for so I know that it can only be God who did it for me. I am going into the new year with a promise fulfilled and God made all the lines fall in pleasant places for me so that I could go forth and make Him proud.

If anyone had told me that I’d be going into 2020 like this, I wouldn’t have believed. But in case, you haven’t gotten my message, I am telling you that it’s been God’s doing! LOL.

The ploy of the evil one is to remove our focus from God and to stop us from giving thanks. We are to thank Him for the good as well as the bad, we are to thank Him through it all. I realized that all the painful, worrisome, nerve-racking and desperate situations I have been in were just to point me to my lack of thanksgiving. It was made clearer to me by my husband, Adams and my friend, Oshanosen when they described how the devil is trying to make us focus more on the problems and issues in our lives and in our nation instead of keeping our mind stayed on God.

This is my charge to you as we go into our year of Immeasurable Grace – remain in the place of thanksgiving and leave the rest everything to God. He is our help, our protection and our provision – you can trust Him.

Thank you for this opportunity, Adepero.
