I just want to first of all thank God for giving me the courage to write this piece. Thank you Pero for the opportunity to share, more like the testimony of God in my life in this “ki lo n sele?” year (for my non yoruba peeps, what is happening again year? ).
I’m so grateful that I know God and I was able to experience Him in new and amazing ways this year.
2020 is my year.
I’m sure that was the outlook of a lot of people at the beginning of the year. What could possibly go wrong, right?
I remember the first day of the year and the bible verse I stumbled upon was Psalm 46:10. I may not have fully grasp the in–depth meaning of the passage, but all I knew is God wants me to be still and God wants me to know that He is God.
At the time, I had made numerous plans that had fallen through, I was also trying to heal from heartbreaks, disappointment, depression, so many things were going on with me from the previous year that I just didn’t understand why it felt like God was not with me. I felt so abandoned, and then COVID happened and I just became more confused. Everything was just happening and I can’t even begin to talk about the impact of the COVID pandemic on my life affairs, I just decided to let go and let God, I mean what other options do I really have. Who better to navigate life other than the One who knows the end from the beginning?
The way God came through for me and my family despite it all, it felt like I was sleeping soundingly in a moving vehicle with no one behind the steering wheel (except God). The way God sent His words this season was just on another level. The miracles, the supernatural coverings, supernatural ease, miraculous advancements, unmerited favour, the unprecedented help. I can’t even begin to fathom how God had saved me from the seen and unforeseen dangers. Everything just seemed to fall in place when I just became still and just trusted and kept trusting in God.
One thing I have learnt this year is sometimes God may need us to be “quarantined”, to shutdown the noise, to disengage from the distractions that come in different forms, so that we can just be still, focus on Him, sit alone with Him to understand His Words and to hear His Voice. In order for us to enjoy and maintain that unique and special relationship with Him. He is got us covered if we just surrender it all to Him.
God that has brought us thus far, He will never leave us and He will continue to be with us and continue to answer us in everything and every way because God is the Only One that can do far and beyond what we can ever ask or think. He keeps His promises.
I will end with this passage from the bible 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24.
“Rejoice always and delight in your faith; be unceasing and persistent in prayer; in every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. Do not quench [subdue, or be unresponsive to the working and guidance of] the [Holy] Spirit. Do not scorn or reject gifts of prophecy or prophecies [spoken revelations—words of instruction or exhortation or warning]. But test all things carefully [so you can recognize what is good]. Hold firmly to that which is good. Abstain from every form of evil [withdraw and keep away from it]. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [that is, separate you from profane and vulgar things, make you pure and whole and undamaged—consecrated to Him—set apart for His purpose]; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept complete and [be found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful and absolutely trustworthy is He who is calling you [to Himself for your salvation], and He will do it [He will fulfill His call by making you holy, guarding you, watching over you, and protecting you as His own].”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-24 AMP
As this year rolls into history and as we are about to embark onto the new year, may God continue to be with us and continue to make us better than what we are now. May the perfect will of God be established in our life and may we do His will.
May God be the inner compass. Let go and let God, He knows you better than you.
